Buddhism is becoming a part of “hipster pop culture,” and I don’t like it. People act as if liking Buddhism makes you cool, wise, and different.
That’s my religion, you guys realize that, right? I take it just as seriously as others do with their own religion. There’s a particular family acquaintance of mine, and I won’t name names, who completely bashes on any religion that isn’t Christianity. She will get in your face and turn defensive if you even dare to say anything that contradicts her beliefs. That goes for Catholics and Mormons too.
But then she has Buddha’s quotes plastered all over her binder and has an app on her phone that sends her a daily quote of Buddha each morning. And if we happen to see each other, she’ll show me the quote and say, “HEY LOOK YOU’RE BUDDHIST OR WHATEVER, DO YOU KNOW THIS, DO YA YA OMG ITS SOOOO TRUE THOUGH I’M GONNA PUT THIS ON MY BINDER IT’S SO TRUE AND APPLIES TO MY LIFE ITS. SO. TRUE I LOVE BUDDHA!”
Holy crap, then convert if you agree with it so much, you crazy bandwagon hopping lunatic. Buddhism wasn’t made to make your binder or your blogs look more cultured and insightful.

Awr marn, I do apologize for Christians (myself included) who at times portray unlovely impressions. Love is oft forgot. I only hope that her heart wills genuineness. Er jerst werner lerv perple yay
