I love tumblr because it gives me some semblance of an outlet. But besides that, and the few cool blogs and people I follow, I actually really hate tumblr. Before I’m trampled for blasphemy, allow me to explain.  

There are so many double standards on this site, it’s almost dizzying trying to keep up with all of them. Probably the one that irritates me the most is the “every girl is beautiful but omfg since when are skinny girls attractive they’re so sick looking just look at marilyn monroe look at them curves!” 

As a girl who sincerely cannot gain weight and curves no matter how much she wants to, it is very disheartening to see 99.9% of tumblr users reblog that “SINCE WHEN WAS THIS [INSERT THIN GIRL HERE] MORE ATTRACTIVE THAN THIS [INSERT VOLUPTUOUS AND GORGEOUS MARILYN MONROE],” picture floating around. It is awesome that tumblr can be so supportive and accepting of curvy women. I think it’s a great thing! They deserve love! But at the same time, I’m sitting over here in my corner wailing about how my shoulders and arms are stick thin and how no matter how much food I consume, nothing goes. And is that really my fault? I don’t like how my ribs show, and I don’t like how my arms have stayed the same size since elementary school, and I don’t like how my collarbones jut out so much, I could put marbles in the pockets they leave behind. And I really don’t need all of tumblr hating on that kind of body type. It’s mine. And many others. And while some girls strive for that stick thin look, I’d do anything to get rid of it. Anything. 

You say every girl is beautiful? Mean it, because really, tumblr has been making me, and probably loads of other girls, feel like they’ve been personally victimized by Regina George.

tl;dr: Love all body types and promote positive self imagery for everyone.
